About Maddie
Maddie has been belly dancing for 14 years, and has entertained audiences throughout the southeastern United States. She began dancing at 17, and at age 31, she is one of the busiest and most recognizable belly dancers in Atlanta. She is known for her high-energy and humor-infused style, and seeks to captivate and bring a smile to all who watch her. Since 2012, Maddie has made a name for herself as a go-to belly dance fire instructor, and is currently one of the only instructors offering workshops in belly dance fire props (click here for more info). Maddie draws her influence from traditional Egyptian and Turkish style oriental dance, as well as Lebanese and Tribal style belly dance. She is highly inspired by Inara of Atlanta, Aziza Nawal, Ryan Yanguochao, Ruby Beh, Samira Shuruk, and legendary master belly dancer Cory Zamora.
Maddie enjoys dancing with a wide array of dazzling props, including zills (finger cymbals), swords, tray of candles, veils, canes, and Isis wings. She is very friendly and upbeat, and always encourages audience participation. She has danced at over 20 restaurants in the metro Atlanta area, and continues to perform every weekend at Taverna Plaka Atlanta, Cafe Bombay, Perspolis Persian Cuisine, and Rotana Restaurant and Lounge.
Outside of the belly dance world, Maddie is a Registered Dental Hygienist and super geek! She completed her undergrad at the University of Cincinnati, and graduated from Wallace State Community College in 2010 with an A.S. in Dental Hygiene. She currently works in the Atlanta area, and enjoys dancing, costuming, and attending sci-fi conventions in her spare time. She is a HUGE Star Wars fan, and also enjoys the musical stylings of bands such as Rush and Iron Maiden. Maddie also plays the electric guitar, and hopes to one day belly dance for her guitar idol, Steve Vai.
